Lehr Checks In From Worcester

June 6, 2006

Hello Sharks Fans;

I hope the early part of summer is finding you well. I know it seems odd when you can spend your day by the pool or on the links, but yes hockey season continues as the Stanley and Calder Cup Finals are both underway. Sports are a funny thing, after all is said and done one never knows who will battle to be a Champion. Will the Bears beat the Admirals or can a Hurricane wipe out Oilers? This is what we play for, this is what an organization works so hard for and both of these series are what your Sharks want to win.

Speaking of Champions, how about Jose Rivera, Worcester’s favorite son! I was honored to be part of the City’s celebration honoring a terrific athlete and as I learned a fabulous young man. Jose may be spotted around town sporting his own Sharks jersey with a fitting #1. I asked Jose at the rally if he could skate, can you imagine him as the tough guy – I could! Congratulations Jose.

This week marks five months since we brought the Sharks to Worcester and the American Hockey back to the DCU Center. Amazing, where did time go? In this time we have accomplished a lot of good things and in the next four months we will accomplish a lot more. Much of the last two months have been spent in getting to know the corporate community better and build partnerships which will help make your Sharks successful. While we do not want to start naming names until the time is right, thank you to all the companies who have come on board with the Sharks and we look forward to our partnerships. In the coming weeks and months we will be announcing who all these great supporters are and what will be part of their partnerships. Everyone has been so open and engaged in creating a great atmosphere for the fans. October cannot get here soon enough.

I am happy to tell you that the Worcester area has three new families. Michael Mudd and his family came to town two weeks ago, Jamie Smock and his arrived this week, and Roy Sommer and his family drop anchor in the next week. In addition we are happy to welcome Amy Raeder on board as our Marketing Coordinator. Amy will be working with our Corporate Partners and Season Ticket Holders on many areas. Join me in welcoming your new neighbors and our latest Sharks staff member.

Congratulations to the Tornadoes on a nice start to the season. An early division lead is nice as were their opening week of crowds. In case you missed it the hottest thing in television is coming to the DCU Center July 7th  and 8th – no not Jack Bauer and 24, the other one – Taylor and the American Idols! Get your tickets now.

Have a great week everybody!

Michael T.Lehr
