Lakeview Elementary School’s very own Madelynn Davis had no idea what her creativity would spark when she sent in her eventual winning entry, FINZ to the “Name Your Mascot Contest” sponsored by the City of Worcester, the DCU Center, WXLO 104.5-FM, WTAG 580-AM, Charter Communications, and WCTR-TV. Madelynn was named the winner of the contest as FINZ made his debut at the Sharks Seat Selection party held on March 26th.

Perhaps the most popular seven year old in Worcester, Davis and her fellow second grade classmates reaped the benefits of her winning entry with a shark invasion last Thursday. As a prize for naming the most recognized shark in the area, Maddy won a pizza party with delicious pizza donated by The Boynton Family Restaurant. Along with the pizza, Ms. Revezzi’s class enjoyed a giant congratulations cake for Madelynn who also won four tickets to a preferable Sharks game and a shark pack filled with merchandise.

The most excitement of the day however was found in the hysterical antics FINZ possessed such as stealing Madelynn’s fellow classmate, Patricia’s water bottle and pretending to sip out of it. The smiles on the student’s faces said it all as FINZ and the Worcester Sharks have officially made their mark in Worcester’s Lakeview Elementary school as well as the city of Worcester and its surrounding communities.
