SJ SHARKS REASSIGN DEFENSEMAN MATT IRWIN TO WORCESTER
Worcester Sharks sign defenseman Adam Comrie

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has reassigned defenseman Matt Irwin to the Worcester Sharks, the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

Irwin has posted two points (one goal, one assist) in nine games with the Sharks this season. He scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 26 vs. Colorado.

The six-foot-two, 210-pound native of Victoria, British Columbia was signed by San Jose as a free agent on March 23, 2010.

SJ Sharks defenseman Brent Burns has also been activated from injured reserve. Burns has not played in a game this season for the SJ Sharks.

In addition, the Worcester Sharks have signed defenseman Adam Comrie to a standard player AHL contract for the remainder of the 2012-13 season. Comrie was originally drafted by the Florida Panthers with the 80th pick in the 2008 NHL draft. The 6-4 215lb native of Ashburn, Virginia played in 45 games this season for the Reading Royals (ECHL) posting 33 points (17-16-33) and 106 penalty minutes. Adam has played 44 games in the AHL with the Rochester Americans. He will wear #44 for the Worcester Sharks.
