Checking in with... Nick Schaus!
June 11, 2010
Sharks Fans, SharksAHL.com will be checking in with Worcester Sharks players throughout the offseason! Our third victim is rookie Nick Schaus! Nick checks in with us from his offseason spot, Buffalo, NY!
Hey Sharks fans, this is Nick Schaus reaching out from Buffalo, NY. Since you last saw me I returned back to UMass Lowell to finish up my undergraduate degree in finance and management. After graduating May 29th I returned home to Buffalo for the summer. I have been working out at Performance Sports Training with my trainer, John Opfer, who I have been with for the past four summers. In addition to that I have been working at goalie camps in the Buffalo area and skating with other pro and junior hockey players in the area.
I really enjoyed being able to play with the Worcester Sharks as my career the UMass Lowell Riverhawks came to an end. It was hard losing to Manchester in game 6, but I feel the experience that I had will help me start next season off very well. Even though I was not with the team for the entire season, I felt like I was a part of everything and I really enjoyed playing with the guys. It was an easier transition playing with the Sharks having already played with some of the guys in the USHL such as Petrecki, Lucia, and Zalewski.
I have recently returned from a week vacation to Florida with my girlfriend and dad. In Florida we spent our time enjoying the beautiful weather, fishing, swimming, and going to Disney. I still have one month to train for the San Jose development camp and I’m really looking forward to meeting coaches and draft picks. As the summer progresses I will skate more often and keep working hard towards our upcoming training camp in San Jose.
Have a great summer!
-Nick
