WORCESTER SHARKS SIGN FORWARD CORY QUIRK
WORCESTER- Worcester Sharks General Manager Wayne Thomas announced today that the team has signed forward Cory Quirk to a one-year American Hockey League contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Quirk, 23, played 11 games with the Albany River Rats at the end of last season recording seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) along with four penalty minutes.
The five-foot-ten, 180-pound forward played collegiate hockey at UMass-Amherst recording 103 points (43 goals, 60 assists) and 76 penalty minutes in 150 games. He was a nominee for the Hobey Baker Award the last two seasons and was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team for the second time in his career.
“Cory will be a great addition to our organization and we are looking forward to continuing his development as a professional hockey player,” said Thomas. “Cory is a terrific leader on and off the ice. We praise the job that UMass-Amherst Head Coach Don Cahoon and his staff have done to further Cory’s career.”
The Brockton, Massachusetts native, earned four letters at Catholic Memorial (Mass.) winning three state championships and was named the Catholic Conference MVP his senior year.
