WORCESTER SHARKS SIGN FORWARD DEAN STRONG
 
 
WORCESTER- Worcester Sharks General Manager Wayne Thomas announced today that the team has signed forward Dean Strong to an American Hockey League contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 
Strong finished fifth on Vermont in scoring with 24 points (5g, 19a). The five-foot-nine, 170-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario played in all 155 games in his career registering 35 goals and 72 assists for 107 points. He became the 41st Catamount to reach the 100-point mark and ended his career ranked 35th all-time in scoring at UVM.
 
Strong spent four seasons with the University of Vermont and served as the captain in 2008-09 and assistant captain in 2007-08. He was the recipient of the 2009 Hockey East Sportsmanship Award and was a finalist for the 2009 Lowe’s Senior Class Award, given annually to the Division I Men’s Hockey student-athlete that displays numerous accomplishments across four award pillars: classroom, community, character, and competition.
 
“Dean has demonstrated qualities of excellence in his four years at the University of Vermont and we are thrilled to allow him to continue this path with the Worcester Sharks ,” said Thomas.  “Not only is he tremendous hockey player, but his leadership history is something that I am certain will benefit our organization. "In addition I would like to thank and congratulate Vermont Head Coach, Kevin Sneddon and his staff on a great job of furthering Dean's career."
