WORCESTER SHARKS RECALL FORWARDS ASHTON ROME AND P.J. FENTON FROM PHOENIX (ECHL)
WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks General Manager Wayne Thomas announced today that the club has recalled forwards Ashton Rome and P.J. Fenton from the Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL.
Fenton, 23, tallied nine goals and 11 points in 13 games with the RoadRunners after being loaned to Phoenix from Worcester back on Jan. 13. The Springfield, Mass. native has one goal and seven points in 30 games with the Sharks this season.
Fenton served as an assistant captain last season at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and tallied nine goals and a career-best 28 points in 36 games to finish third on the Minutemen in scoring. He signed an amateur try-out contract with San Jose on April 1, 2008 and was assigned to Worcester where he appeared in four regular season games. He was selected by San Jose in Round Five (#163 overall) at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Rome, 23, tallied 21 goals and 36 points along with 103 penalty minutes in 45 games with the RoadRunners after being loaned to Phoenix from Worcester back on October 16.
The 6-foot-1, 205 pound forward from Nesbitt, Manitoba played in 126 games over the last three seasons for the Worcester Sharks recording 15 goals along with 11 assists.
The Worcester Sharks continue their seven game road trip with two games this week. The Sharks visit Portland on Friday in a battle for the Unum Cup, then travel to Wilkes-Barre for a Sunday afternoon affair with the Penguins at 5:05p.m.
