UNUM Challenge
Sharks vs. Pirates... for the Good of our Community!
Each season, the Worcester Sharks and the Portland Pirates battle in the UNUP Cup Challenge presented by UNUM. The team that wins the season series, will be rewarded with a check from UNUM for a local charity!
The Pirates captured the 5th annual UNUM Challenge with seven wins in the 12-game season series. The Pirates have won the Challenge in three of the five seasons (2006-07, 2007-08 and 2010-11). Worcester earned a tie in 2008-09 and in 2009-10.
Congratulations to Edward Schenks Jr. who was the grand prize winner of the UNUM Challenge after becoming the first person in five seasons to exactly guess the number of shots (728) taken between the Pirates and the Sharks during their 12-game season series. Edward was awarded a Pirates jersey and a gift bag from UNUM before the Pirates game on April 10th.
