Sharks Deal For Defenseman J.D. Forrest

SAN JOSE SHARKS ACQUIRE DEFENSEMAN J.D. FORREST FROM CAROLINA IN EXCHANGE FOR FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS
SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has acquired defenseman J.D. Forrest from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for future considerations.
In 19 games with the Albany River Rats this season, Forrest has posted 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) and 16 penalty minutes. He has also spent time with the Florida Everblades (12 games, one goal, seven assists) and Elmira Jackals (two games, zero points), both of the East Coast Hockey League.
The five-foot-nine, 185-pound native of Auburn, NY was selected in the sixth round (181st overall) in 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Forrest will report to Worcester, the Sharks top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
In other roster moves, the Worcester Sharks released center Josh Prudden.
The Sharks return to the DCU Center on Friday, Feb. 22, for a 3-in-3 weekend, with all three games on home ice. Friday’s match up features Lowell, with Portland skating into town on Saturday. The Springfield Falcons wrap up the weekend with an 8:05pm start on Sunday, the 24th.
