Worcester, MA – The Worcester Sharks (12-12-1-1, 26pts) fell back to .500 after getting shutout for the 2nd straight game in a 4-0 loss to the Providence Bruins (15-9-1-5, 36pts) in front of 5,186 fans at the DCU Center on Thursday evening in the first game back after the three day holiday break.
Carter Camper, Scott Campbell, Anthony Camara, and Seth Griffith scored for the Bruins while Niklas Svedberg made 34 saves for his 1st shutout of the season. Troy Grosenick made 28 saves in net for Worcester as the Sharks have not scored a goal in 127:48.
The Bruins charged out to a 2-0 first period lead with goals from Carter Camper (5th) at 3:33 and a shorthanded breakaway rebound strike by Scott Campbell (1st) at 17:55. Sena Acolatse (1st FM) fought tough guy Bobby Robins (13th FM) at 1:31 followed by a great bout by Marek Viedensky (1st FM) and Rob Flick (4th FM) at 16:58. Worcester was outshot 14-9 through 20 minutes of play.
Providence went ahead 3-0 at 6:16 of the 2nd period as Anthony Camara (3rd) fired home a rebound past Troy Grosenick on a 3-on-2 rush. On the next shift, Rob Flick (5th FM) picked up 29 penalty minutes after his fight with Curt Gogol (6th FM) at 6:54. Goaltender Niklas Svedberg made 14 saves in the middle frame as the Sharks trailed 3-0 after 40 minutes of play.
Seth Griffith (7th) added an insurance marker at 13:02 of the 3rd period with a power play goal from in tight to put the Bruins ahead 4-0. Worcester would fire another 11 shots in the 3rd period but Svedberg stood tall in net for the 4-0 final.
The Sharks overall record falls to 12-12-1-1, 26pts and 5-7-0-1, 11pts at home this season.

Worcester went 0-for-6 on the power play while Providence went 1-for-5… Lane Scheidl (inj), Konrad Abeltshauser, Brodie Reid, Nick Petrecki, Sebastian Stalberg, and Matt Pelech (inj) did not dress for Worcester… forward Bracken Kearns skated in his 499th AHL game…. the fight by Marek Viedensky in the first period was his 1st professional fight…. Bruins forward Rob Flick collected 36 minutes of penalty minutes….the two teams combined for 76 penalty minutes….Sena Acolatse fired a team high five shots on goal.
