WORCESTER, MA – Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd released today, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, the Worcester Sharks 2012-13 regular season schedule. The Sharks home opener will be on Saturday, October 20 vs. the Albany Devils at 7:00p.m. at the DCU Center.

Worcester will commence the 2012-13 season with a pair of games against the defending Calder Cup Champions, the Admirals, in Norfolk, on October 12 and 13. After a battle in Lewiston, ME vs. the Portland Pirates, the Sharks return home to the DCU Center against the Albany Devils with a 7p.m. tilt on Saturday, October 20. 

 

“We pride ourselves on providing families with affordable weekend entertainment and this schedule does exactly that,” said Mudd.  “Over 86% of our home dates are on the weekend and all six Providence Bruins games fall on a Saturday. We are extremely excited about our 7th season in Worcester and look forward to continue to build our fan support through central Massachusetts.”

 

Thirty-three of the 38 Sharks home games will be played on the weekends with 25 of the 33 occurring on either Saturdays or Sundays. The Sharks will host eight Friday home games this season with a start time of 7:30 p.m.  Fourteen home games will take place in 2012 and 24 in 2013.

 

Worcester will square off against Atlantic Division rival, the Providence Bruins, for six home games, with all six dates falling on a Saturday (Dec 8, Dec 29, Jan 26, Feb 2, Mar 9, Mar 23). The defending Calder Cup Champions, the Norfolk Admirals, will visit the DCU Center on April 12 and 13 for their only visits to Worcester.

  

This season, the Sharks will play 11 sets of three games in three nights and will not play any four games in five night scenarios.  Worcester will host a season long four game home stand on four different occasions (Nov 3-10, Jan 13-19, Mar 9-15, Apr 6-13) and embark on a season long six game road trip on February 5-17 which includes a two game set in St. John’s on February 5 and 6.
