SHARKS SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT

SILICON VALLEY SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT TO BE RE-LAUNCHED AS
“SHARKS SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT”
Operating Company of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks Will Take on the Team’s Famous Moniker

SAN JOSE – Effective immediately, the parent organization of the National Hockey League’s San Jose Sharks will now be known as Sharks Sports & Entertainment.

Sharks Sports & Entertainment will replace the organization’s former parent group, Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment, which was created in 2000.

“In launching this endeavor, we felt that we were best served to leverage our organization’s most recognized and popular brand,” said Executive Vice President of Business Operations Malcolm Bordelon.  “We want anyone who comes in contact with Sharks Sports & Entertainment to immediately associate it with the same commitment to excellence, competitive edge, high values and professional standards that are embodied by our hockey franchise.  As our business has grown beyond Silicon Valley – nationally and potentially globally in the future – we wanted to choose an identity that was not centric to any one geographic location.”

Sharks Sports & Entertainment’s goal is to leverage the organization’s core competencies to grow and/or acquire synergistic businesses and provide world-class sports and entertainment, while maintaining a championship-caliber National Hockey League team in San Jose.

Sharks Sports & Entertainment currently oversees the business operations of several entities across the United States.

In California, Sharks Sports & Entertainment operates the National Hockey League’s San Jose Sharks, the SAP Open ATP World Tour Tennis Tournament, the management of HP Pavilion at San Jose and select HP Pavilion events.

In Memphis, Tenn., Sharks Sports & Entertainment operates two tennis properties; the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships ATP World Tour men’s tournament and the WTA international women’s tournament, as well as The Racquet Club of Memphis – an 188,000 square foot, full-service racquet, swim and fitness club.

In Worcester, Mass., Sharks Sports & Entertainment runs the American Hockey League’s Worcester Sharks, the San Jose Sharks top development hockey affiliate.

In addition, Sharks Sports & Entertainment manages all or parts of several ice facilities in the Bay Area, including Sharks Ice at San Jose (the San Jose Sharks official training facility), Sharks Ice at Fremont and Oakland Ice Center operated by Sharks Ice.  Sharks Ice at San Jose, as one of only ten facilities in the United States with four or more NHL-size rinks, is the largest facility of its type under one roof west of the Mississippi River and is home to the No. 1 ranked Adult Hockey League according to USA Hockey.

The new Sharks Sports & Entertainment logo incorporates aspects of the San Jose Sharks well-known mark and includes the team’s colors; Pacific Teal, Black and Orange.
