SHARKS RECALL LEFT WING BRANDON MASHINTER FROM WORCESTER

SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled left wing Brandon Mashinter from the Worcester Sharks, the team’s top development affiliate.

Mashinter, 22, made his NHL debut on Dec. 29 and played in 12 games for San Jose, posting 12 penalty minutes. He currently ranks tied for fifth on Worcester in points (14-19=33) and second in penalty minutes (96) in 62 games played. The second-year professional has posted two career Gordie Howe Hat Tricks in his AHL career and his 22 goals and 13 fighting majors in 2009-10 with Worcester marked the first time in franchise history that a player recorded double digits in both those categories in the same season.

The six-foot-four, 235-pound native of Bradford, Ontario was originally signed by San Jose as a free agent on March 3, 2009.
