Sharks fall 7-2 in Springfield
Just 22 days till opening night at the DCU Center!
SPRINGFIELD, MA – The Worcester Sharks fell to the Springfield Falcons 7-2 in preseason action at the Mass Mutual Center on Friday night.
Adam Henrich made it 1-0 for the Falcons as he deflected a shot from the point by Jesse Dudas past Adam Russo at 5:48 of the first period. Worcester outshot Springfield 8-6 but trailed 1-0 after twenty minutes.
The Falcons outscored the Sharks 6-2 in the middle frame as Michael Wilson and Mathieu Curadeau lit the lamp for Worcester. Springfield received goals from six different goal scorers and connected twice on the power play. Worcester was outshot 11-4 in the second period and trailed 7-2.
The third period was scoreless but the physical play picked up.   The Sharks’ Will Colbert dropped the gloves with Matt Nickerson at 13:19. With the loss, the Sharks fell to 0-2-0-0 in preseason action.
NOTES:  Adam Russo allowed three goals in 29:09 of action while Kris Tebbs allowed four goals in 30:51 of action. … Dan DaSilva recorded the only assist for Worcester… Andrew Perugini and Bryan Pitton shared time in net for Springfield … The Sharks went 1/7 on the power play while the Falcons went 2/8…. Final shots were 24-20 in favor of the Falcons.
The Sharks will round out the preseason schedule at International Skating Center in Simsbury, CT with another battle against the Wolf Pack on Sun., Sept. 27, at 3 p.m.

Worcester’s training camp in preparation for the season opener on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Adirondack against the Phantoms will conclude on Sept. 30.
