WORCESTER SHARKS RELEASE 2009-10 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE
Sharks kick off 4th season in Adirondack on October 3
WORCESTER – Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr released today, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, the Worcester Sharks 2009-10 regular season schedule. The Sharks home opener will be on Saturday, October 17h vs. the Lowell Devils at 7:05 p.m. at the DCU Center. Fans are encouraged to visit www.SharksAHL.com to view the schedule in its entirety.
The Sharks will commence the 2009-10 season with three games on the road, the first in Glens Falls, NY as they take on the Adirondack Phantoms at the Glens Falls Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3rd. After a visit with Bridgeport and Lowell, the Sharks will travel home for a battle against their divisional rival, the Lowell Devils. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Derek Joslin bobblehead doll on opening night.
Thirty-two of the 40 Sharks home games will be played on the weekends with 22 of the 32 occurring on either Fridays or Saturdays. The Sharks will host ten Sunday home games this season with a new start time of 3:05 p.m. (with the exception of March 14th vs. Hershey at 4:05 p.m.) Nineteen home games will take place in 2009 and 21 in 2010.
“We pride ourselves on being able to provide families with weekend entertainment and this schedule does exactly that,” said Lehr. “For the fourth straight season, at least 75% of our home dates are on the weekend which makes it easier for families to attend Sharks home games. We are extremely excited about the upcoming season and look forward to build off a terrific playoff run last year.”
The Sharks will face three new opponents this season; the Syracuse Crunch, Abbotsford Heat, and the Manitoba Moose. The Sharks will face off against Atlantic Division rival, the Providence Bruins, for five home games with four taking place on Saturday nights.
For the third straight season, the Sharks will host a 1:05 p.m. matinee game at the DCU Center on Veteran’s Day, November 11; with the Lowell Devils having this year’s honor.
This season, the Sharks will play 11 sets of three games in three nights and six sets of four games in five nights.
The Sharks promotional schedule is expect to be finalized within the next few weeks and will be posted on www.SharksAHL.com.
