SHARKS FANS JOIN RILEY TO BENEFIT LOCKS OF LOVE
13 Sharks Fans donate hair, Riley shaves head to generate awareness for “Locks of Love”
WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks AHL Man of the Year Riley Armstrong shaved his head at center ice after the Sharks victory against the Springfield Falcons on Bald is Beautiful Day at the DCU Center on Sunday. 13 Sharks fans donated their hair for the Locks of Love program as the Sharks raised over $1,000 for the Locks of Love program. The awesome event was sponsored by Jeffrey Robert Salon & Spa of Worcester.
Armstrong, the winner of the Worcester Sharks AHL Man of the Year Award for the second straight season for his outstanding contributions to the Worcester community, has been growing out his curly hair since late October.
Sharks fans bid $650 to have the opportunity to shave Riley’s signature curley hair. After some peer pressure and over $400 of spur of the moment pledges, Sharks radio broadcaster also shaved his head for the good cause. The following 13 Sharks fans donated over 25 feet of hair to the Locks of Love program.

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers. For more information about the Locks of Love program log on to www.locksoflove.org.
