Finz Opts for New Outfit
by John Guilmartin
July 27, 2007
Tomorrow, pipes will sound, dancers will fly and men will wear kilts. It’s the fifth annual Blackstone Valley Celtic Festival and the Worcester Sharks are going to be there catching all the action!
Yes, Saturday the Sharks will be digging into their Celtic roots – curling their hair, drinking their Guinness and of course wearing kilts. We also considered playing the pipes but we decided to spare festival goers that agony.
The event this year will be taking place at Webster Lake and will feature musical acts, events, food and prizes. Of course, the greatest Shark on earth, Finz, will be in attendance from 3-5 pm, meeting, greeting and participating in the Men in Kilts competition. Finz will be taking a step back from the ice to don a kilt and scally cap. He’d also be more than will to trade in his traditional fish meals for some haggis, just to add to the authenticity.
The Sharks are very excited for this Festival, as it is another first for them after their stellar inaugural season. We’ve got quite a bit of Celtic around us, and we are anxious to show our support of it.
It’s a family affair. So bring the kids, the grandparents – everyone. Just leave the dog at home. Get your stomachs ready for some great food, your ears open for music and of course watch for Finz in a kilt. Be sure to check him out from 3-5 pm in the men in kilts competition.
