Sharks offer to reimburse Rob Gronkowski
Worcester Sharks offer to reimburse Rob Gronkowski $7,500 to pay NFL fine for spiking football
Gronkowski offered $7,500 to spike puck before Worcester Sharks game on February 24th
WORCESTER, MA - Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd has announced that the Worcester Sharks will offer to reimburse New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski $7,500 to spike a ceremonial puck before the Sharks game vs. the Providence Bruins on Friday, February 24th at the DCU Center in Worcester.
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was fined $7,500 Friday by the NFL for his unsportsmanlike spike following his second touchdown grab in Sunday night's win over the Jets. Gronkowski finished the game with eight catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns as the Patriots rolled, 37-16.
“The Sharks would be more than happy to reimburse Gronkowski to spike the puck before a Worcester Sharks game, said Mudd. “Sharks fans are Patriots fans and I know that they would enjoy watching Gronkowski show us how to properly spike a puck at center ice and sign some autographs. I hope Rob takes us up on the offer."
Rob Gronkowski spiked the football after a celebration of a touchdown vs. the Patriots biggest rival, the New York Jets. It would be only fitting if Gronkowski would spike a puck before the Worcester Sharks host their biggest rival, the Providence Bruins on Friday, February 24th.
The Sharks will also be hosting “March of Dimes Night” and the 2nd annual Boy Scout sleep over during the game on the February 24th.
