Rewind the Tape:
12.19.08 – Worcester – Portland –postponed due to weather -  DCU Center
The Sharks vs. Pirates game was postponed due to winter weather and has been rescheduled for Monday, December 29th at 7:05p.m. at the DCU Center. Tickets for the December 19th game will be honored at the turnstiles on the 29th.
 
12.20.08 Worcester 3 – Manchester 1  – DCU Center
Ryan Vesce and Cory Larose each recorded a goal and recorded two assists in a 3-1 victory over the Monarchs on Saturday night. Brendan Buckley scored his first goal in a Sharks uniform with a shorthanded tally in the 1st period. Thomas Greiss was sharp in net making 20 saves in net to pick up the victory.
 
12.21.08 – Worcester 2 – Portland 3 – Cumberland County Civic Center
The Pirates scored three unanswered goals to drop the Sharks 3-2 in Portland on a snowy Sunday afternoon. Matt Fornataro scored his first goal in a Sharks uniform and Patrick Traverse scored his second of the season to give Worcester a 2-0 lead. Jhonas Enroth was spectacular in net for the Pirates making 41 saves in net for the Pirates. Taylor Dakers made 34 saves for Worcester.
 
Sharks in the Atlantic…
The Sharks (16-14-0-0) swim in 4th place in the Atlantic Division with 32 points,  six points behind the first place Providence Bruins and five points behind the second place Portland Pirates. Just 12 points separate all seven teams in a very tight Atlantic Division.
 
Shark Bites:
*Cory Larose (3-1-4) and Ryan Vesce (1-3-4) are currently riding four game point streaks.
*Worcester leads the AHL with shots per game (35.60) and first in shots against per game (25.13)
*The Sharks have 37 fighting major penalties this season through 30 games this season.  11 different players have dropped the gloves already this season (Frazer McLaren (11), Westgarth (9), Moore (3), Staubitz (5), Demers (2), Cavanagh, McGinn (2), Dan DaSilva, Andrew Desjardins, Kyle McLaren, Brendan Buckley.
*Derek Joslin is 2nd in the AHL among defensemen with 92 shots on goal and is 5th among d-men in scoring with 19 points (6-13-19).
*Frazer McLaren is second among AHL rookies with 11 fighting major penalties.
*Steven Zalewski ranks 9th in the AHL among rookies in points (7-12-19) and third among rookies with 88 shots on goal.
*Claude Lemieux has five points (2-3-5) in 12 games along with 12 penalty minutes and is +3 since his return to professional hockey with the Sharks on 11.28.08.
 
 Roster Moves:
*San Jose reassigned forward Lukas Kaspar to the Worcester Sharks on Saturday. Lukas has played in 10 games with San Jose Sharks this season recording 2 points (1-1-2).
 
*San Jose reassigned rookie Matt Jones to Worcester from Phoenix in the ECHL on Wednesday. Jones played in two games with the Road Runners recording no points and two penalty minutes.

 Worcester to host the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications!
The Sharks and the city of Worcester will host the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications on January 25th and 26th at the DCU Center.  Tickets are on sale to the general public now.  The 2009 event in Worcester will mark the fourth time since it was revived in 1995 that the AHL All-Star Classic will take place in New England.  The AHL All-Star Classic was last held in Massachusetts in 1959 at the Eastern States Coliseum in West Springfield.
