WORCESTERDespite beating the Wolf Pack in their first three meetings this season, the Sharks dropped their second in a row to Hartford with a 2-1 loss on Sunday afternoon.

The scoring began on an early strike by the Wolf Pack at 4:33 in the first period. Greg Moore and Patrick Rissmiller found themselves in a 2-on-1 situation deep in the offensive zone and capitalized on it for Rissmiller’s second goal of the year.

Hartford kept its foot on the gas pedal when Jordan Owens notched his fourth goal this season. Owens moved the puck into the offensive zone and upon being checked, sent the puck into the crowd in front of the net. The puck ricocheted off a Worcester stick and into the goal. Jared Nightingale and Mike Ouellette were credited with assists on the play.

The Sharks fought back with their first goal at 4:41 in the second frame, but it wasn’t enough. Ryan Vesce found Cory Larose in front of the net for Larose’s 12th goal this season. Upon securing the pass, Larose deked Hartford goalie Matt Zaba and wristed the puck beyond Zaba’s reach.

The loss drops Worcester to 15-13-0-0, while the win brings Hartford to 13-11-1-3.
