Strong Worcester presence in 6-4 exhibition San Jose loss
 
In its first exhibition game this season, San Jose lost a closely-matched contest against Anaheim, 6-4.  Worcester favorites played a prominent role in the effort, as goals were scored by Derek Joslin and Devin Setoguchi, in addition to two assists made by Mike Morris.  Highlights included fights Moore and Brad Staubitz (twice).

UMass Walk to Cure Cancer
 
Join the Sharks staff in participating in the UMass Walk to Cure Cancer this Sunday!  Over the past nine years, the Walk to Cure Cancer has raised millions to support cancer research.  The event will consist of a five-mile (or one-mile option) walk that will begin and end on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester.

Worcester Sharks welcome Melissa Gardner to staff
 
Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr has announced that the club has hired Melissa Gardner as the Director of Corporate Sales.
 
Gardner is a Sterling, Massachusetts native and graduate of Notre Dame Academy of Worcester.  She has an extensive hockey background and marketing experience at the professional sports level.  She joins the Sharks staff after one year in the Athletic Department at UMASS-Lowell (NCAA).  Melissa has previously worked in the American Hockey League as a Vice President for the Quad City Flames and in management for the Springfield Falcons in the marketing department.
 
“I am extremely excited to come back home to a great franchise in a great hockey city, said Gardner.  “Hockey has always been a strong passion of mine and I cannot wait till the Sharks drop the puck for this All-Star season.”
 
Dates to Remember:
 
--2008-09 Individual Game Tickets will go on sale on September 15th, at noon.  Packages can be purchased at the DCU Center, or can be purchased by phone by calling (508)929-0500.
 
--Exhibition games will be held across several venues in New England.  The Sharks preseason schedule is as follows:
 
-October 1st vs. Hartford at Trinity College (7 p.m.)
-October 3rd vs. Springfield at MassMutual Center (7:30 p.m.)
-October 4th vs. Hartford at Loring Arena in Framingham (7 p.m.)
-October 5th vs. Manchester at Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg (4 p.m.), presented by the Sentinel & Enterprise
 
--Opening night for the Sharks is October 11th at Lowell.  Game time is 7 p.m.
 
--The Sharks home opener is on October 18th against Providence at 7:05 p.m.  All-Star bobbleheads & magnet schedules will be given out to the first 3,000 fans courtesy of Charter Communications! There will also be a pre-game concert by Joshua Tree!
 
--Tickets for the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications will go on sale to the public on October 18th as well.

Ticket pricing:   $8 for adults
$5 for kids 12 and under

Sunday, October 5th at 4pm - Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg
Sharks vs. Manchester Monarchs presented by the Sentinel & Enterprise
Ticket pricing:   $7 for adults
$5 for kids 12 and under
 
Tickets may be purchased at the Wallace Civic Center.  For more information call 888-64RINKS.
 
Season Ticket Holders may purchase tickets in advance for both games for $5.00 each by calling the Sharks Office at 508-929-0500.
 
Swimming with FINZ
 
On Thursday, September 25, FINZ will be at the Staples in Framingham from 11:30a.m. to 12:30p.m
 
On Sunday, September 28, you can find FINZ getting some exercise at the UMass Walk to Cure Cancer!  FINZ and Sharks staff will be at the UMass Walk to Cure Cancer at the UMass Medical School in Worcester from 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m.

Sharks TV
 
Check out the newest episode of Sharks TV!  The voice of the Worcester Sharks, Eric Lindquist invited Sharks forwards T.J. Fox and Matt Jones for a day of fun at Six Flags New England.  The Sharks TV crew made the trip as well!

Alternate Jerseys
 
The Sharks will don an alternate color jersey at select home and away games this year.  The jersey is grey and has “SHARKS” written diagonally across the front of the sweater.  These jerseys will premier on the October 25th home contest against Bridgeport.
