What are Sharks fans like YOU doing this off-season?

The Worcester Sharks would like to congratulate Worcester Sharks Fan Brian Carroll of the Small Business Service Bureau, Inc. for his completion of the Ironman Triathlon in Switzerland!

 

Swimming in front of the Zurich skyline, biking along the Goldcoast of Lake Zurich and running through the heart of the beautiful city provides a wonderful backdrop for this triathlon. The event generally coincides with Switzerland's Independence Day, making for a festive weekend for those in attendance.

 

The challenge of the Zurich course in the past has been the bike leg, which took competitors over two infamous hills, Heartbreak Hill and Schoenenberger Beast. The bike course was redesigned in 2000, which has made it faster. Once through the bike, the run is fast and flat, giving front-of-the-pack competitors an opportunity to vie for world record times at Ironman Switzerland.

 

After a 2.4 mile swim across Lake Zurich; a 112 mile bike race through the hills surrounding Lake Zurich; and a 26.2 mile marathon; Brian crossed the finish line draped by the American Flag at an astounding 14 hours 22 minutes and 12 seconds!

 

Brian’s breakdown of events:

 

Swim: 2.4 miles at 1:37:09

Bike: 112 miles at 7:23:22

Run: 26.2 miles at 5:03:46

Total: 14:22:12 – New personal record for Brian!
