RILEY ARMSTRONG AND MIKE MORRIS RE-SIGNED!

                                         SAN JOSE SHARKS RE-SIGN LEFT WING RILEY ARMSTRONG

 
            SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has re-signed Group II restricted free agent left wing Riley Armstrong to a one-year contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 
In 2007-08, Armstrong, 23, finished tied for sixth on the Worcester Sharks, the top American Hockey League development affiliate of the San Jose Sharks with 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) and 91 penalty minutes (fourth on the team) in 64 games.  Armstrong was named Worcester’s winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Worcester community during the 2007-08 season.  It is the second straight season that he has won the award.
 
Armstrong, a native of Saskatoon, SK finished his second season with the Worcester Sharks and quickly became one of the most popular players in the franchise's history, known for his friendliness towards fans and willingness to go the extra mile.
 
Over the past season with the Worcester Sharks, Armstrong has participated in many community service projects; including Reading is Cool, hospital visits, Rink Buddies, celebrity bartending, Junior Sharks Hockey Clinics, fan-related events, and much more. 
 
Armstrong also grew out his hair for the Locks of Love program in support of cancer awareness.  After the Worcester Sharks game on April 6th 2008, Riley shaved his head on the DCU Center ice and donated his hair to the Locks of Love program. 
 
As one of the Worcester Sharks team leaders, Armstrong has been instrumental in helping the organization complete another successful season in the community relations department, with over 300 appearances throughout the central Massachusetts region.
 
The five-foot-eleven, 190-pound Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native was originally signed by San Jose as a free agent on Sept. 15, 2004.

SAN JOSE SHARKS RE-SIGN RIGHT WING MIKE MORRIS
 
            SAN JOSE –  San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has re-signed Group II restricted free agent right wing Mike Morris to a one-year contract.  Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 
            In 2007-08, Morris, 24, played nine games and scored two points (one goal, one assist) with the Worcester Sharks, San Jose’s top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
 
            Morris, completed his fifth year at Northeastern University in 2006-07 and finished third on the team with 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) despite appearing in only 20 of the team’s 36 games.  As captain, Morris led the team and tied for 14th overall in Hockey East with his five power play goals.  His .90 points per game average tied him for 15th in the conference with current Sharks player Torrey Mitchell, who was playing for the University of Vermont at the time.
           
            In 114 collegiate games, Morris posted 45 goals and 63 assists for 108 points.  In 2004-05, he was selected to the All-Hockey East Second Team as he led Northeastern in goals (19).  He was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team during his freshman campaign in 2002-03.   
                                                                       
            The six-foot-one, 185-pound native of Dorchester, Mass. was selected by San Jose in the first round (27th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
