San Jose Sharks wheel and deal before trade deadline. Sharks sign goaltender Brian Boucher and trade for defenseman Brian Campbell.
On Boucher….
Boucher, 31, has played seven NHL seasons with Philadelphia, Phoenix, Calgary, Chicago and Columbus and has spent the 2007-08 season with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League, where he posted 23-16-1 record with a 2.47 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage with four shutouts in 42 games.
Most recently, Boucher split the 2006-07 season between the Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets and the Phantoms.
In 220 NHL games, Boucher has posted a 77-96-30 record with a 2.79 goals-against average and an .897 save percentage, along with 13 shutouts
In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he has an 11-8 mark with a 2.07 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage with one shutout in 21 games
The native of Woonsocket, Rhode Island was originally selected in the first round (22nd overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

Sharks ship Rob Davison to the New York Islanders for 2008 7th Round pick.
Davison has played in 15 games this season, posting 21 penalty minutes. In 176 NHL games with San Jose, Davison has posted 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) along with 238 penalty minutes. He was originally selected by San Jose in the fourth round (98th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Sharks bolsters defense….. pick up Campbell from Buffalo.
San Jose Sharks acquires defenseman Brian Campbell and a seventh round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for right wing Steve Bernier and a first round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Campbell, a two-time NHL All-Star (2007-08, 2006-07) is tied for seventh among all NHL defensemen in scoring with 43 points (five goals, 38 assists) in 63 games and was fourth overall on the Sabres in scoring. He was named Buffalo’s captain for the month of December.
Originally selected by Buffalo in the sixth round (156th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Campbell, 28, has led all Sabres defensemen in scoring for the last two seasons. In addition, he finished as a plus-28 in 2006-07.
In 391 NHL games, all with Buffalo, Campbell has posted 176 points (32 goals, 144 assists) and 113 penalty minutes. In 34 Stanley Cup Playoff games, Campbell has posted 13 points (three goals, 10 assists).
“Brian’s a guy that gets the puck out of your zone quick,” said Wilson. “He’s a quarterback on the power play and he will compliment our group really well.”
Campbell had a stellar career with the Ottawa 67’s in the Ontario Hockey League, including winning a Memorial Cup in 1998-99, along with being named the OHL’s Most Outstanding Player and leading all OHL defensemen with 87 points (12 goals, 75 assists).
Bernier has posted 23 points (13 goals, 10 assists) in 59 games this season with the Sharks. He was originally drafted by San Jose in the first round (16th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 159 NHL games with San Jose, Bernier posted 81 points (42 goals, 39 assists) and 126 penalty minutes.
“We wish Steve the best,” Wilson added. “He’s worked really hard for us and we think he will go on and have a tremendous career.”
