THOMAS GREISS PINK MASK AUCTION DETAILS

PINK MASK WORN BY THOMAS GREISS
GOES TO AUCTION ON NHL.COM
WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr announced that there are only two days left to bid on the Autographed Pink Mask worn by goaltender Thomas Greiss in an online auction on NHL.com.  The auction began on Friday, November 23rd at Noon and will conclude on Friday, November 30th at 9 p.m. with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Worcester via Sharks Charities.

The Pink Mask has all ready received 20 bids and is listed as a “Hot Item” on the NHL.com Auction web page. As of 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29th, the highest bid for the Pink Mask was $3,200!

German Olympic Goaltender and the #1 San Jose Sharks Goalie Prospect Thomas Greiss agreed to wear the specially designed Pink Mask for games in October and November to promote awareness for breast cancer. Greiss recorded a 5-4-0-0 record wearing the Pink Mask with the Worcester Sharks. Thomas Greiss also wore the Pink Mask as a back-up goaltender for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League after he was recalled by the club when the Sharks fell to the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in San Jose on November 24th.  Greiss will wear the Pink Mask for one more game, when the Worcester Sharks host the Hartford Wolf Pack  at the DCU Center on Friday, November 30th.

The Worcester Hope Lodge is a free, temporary housing facility for cancer patients who are undergoing treatment in central and eastern Massachusetts, and their families.  It provides guests with private rooms, kitchen facilities, and transportation to treatments.  More importantly, perhaps, it also provides a human support network and a comfortable home away from home. Money raised during the Pink Mask auction will help fund the program.

The Pink Mask was designed and painted by the Worcester Sharks Director of Youth Hockey and Community Relations, Michael Myers. Myers has designed and painted several masks, including Conn Smythe Winner Cam Ward of the Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers Goaltender Dwayne Roloson.

The Pink Mask, which is a mirror image of Greiss’ regular mask, is Pink with swimming sharks and has a Pink Ribbon on the front. The back of the mask dawns a Sharks Charities logo with Sharks Charities Chairwoman Mary C. Defeudis’ signature.
Fans may bid on the Pink Mask through 9 p.m. on Friday, November 30th by logging onto www.nhl.com, www.sharksahl.com,  www.sjsharks.com, and www.americancancersociety.org.  For more information regarding the Pink Mask or the online auction contact the Worcester Sharks Front Office at 508-929-0500.
