WORCESTER – President and CEO Michael T. Lehr released today in conjunction with the American Hockey League, the Worcester Sharks 2007-08 regular season schedule.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW ENTIRE 2007-08 SEASON SCHEDULE.

The Sharks will commence the 2007-08 season in Springfield as they take on the Falcons at the MassMutual Center for a 7:00 p.m. game on October 6. The Baby Sharks will then travel home for their home opener on October 13th versus the Portland Pirates for the second straight year.

Thirty-three of the 40 Sharks home games will be played on the weekends with 26 of the 33 occurring on either Fridays or Saturdays. Fifteen home games will take place in 2007 and 25 in 2008.

“We pride ourselves on being able to provide families with weekend entertainment and this schedule does exactly that,” said Lehr. “For the second straight season, 33 of our 40 home dates are on the weekend which makes it easier for families to attend Sharks home games. We are extremely excited about the upcoming season.

“From a hockey perspective, it works out well because the players don’t have a lot of three games in three nights or four games in five nights sets. This schedule benefits both the business side and hockey side of things throughout the entire season.”

Newly added teams to Worcester’s regular season schedule are the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Philadelphia Phantoms with one home game dedicated to each team. The Sharks will face off against Atlantic Division rival, Providence Bruins, for five home games with three taking place on Saturday nights.

In addition to the two new opponents, Worcester will also host a 1:00 p.m. matinee game at the DCU Center on Veteran’s Day, November 12, against the Springfield Falcons.

This season the Sharks will play 10 sets of three games in three nights and six sets of four games in five nights.
