San Jose Reassigns Derek Joslin from Ottawa (OHL)

SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has reassigned defenseman Derek Joslin to the Worcester Sharks (AHL).
Joslin has spent the last four seasons with the Ottawa 67s in the Ontario Hockey League. This season, the Richmond Hill, Ontario native led Ottawa in scoring among defenseman for the second consecutive season and was fourth overall with 49 points (11 goals, 38 assists). In 68 games, he registered 66 penalty minutes and his 49 points ranked him 14th among all OHL defensemen.
In five postseason games this season, Joslin ranked third on the team with five points (one goal, four assists) and a +1 plus/minus rating. He signed an NHL contract with the Sharks on Dec. 28, 2006.
In 2005-06, Joslin ranked sixth among Ottawa scorers with 48 points (11 goals, 37 assists) in 68 games. His 48 points placed him 14th overall among all OHL defensemen, earning him a spot on Team OHL, which competed against Team Russia last November.
The six-foot-one, 205-pound defenseman was selected by San Jose in the fifth round (149th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
