Two former MSHCA All-Stars selected in 2013 NHL Draft

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Sharks and Shriners along with the Massachusetts State Hockey Coaches Association are proud to announce that two former MSHCA All-Stars; Brian Pinho (St. John’s Prep) and Chris Leblanc (Winthrop HS) were both selected in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft held on June 30 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. 
 
The Ottawa Senators selected forward Chris Leblanc (Winthrop HS) with the 161st pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. Leblanc skated for the North All-Stars in the 3rd annual MSHCA All-Star Classic held at the DCU Center on April 1, 2012.
 
The Washington Capitals selected North Andover, MA native and forward Brian Pinho (St. John’s Prep) with the 174th pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. Pinho skated for the North All-Stars team in the 4th annual MSHCA All-Star Classic presented by Shriners on March 30, 2013 at the DCU Center.
 
In addition, three previous MSHCA All-Stars have been drafted in the NHL Draft. 2012 MSHCA All-Star Sam Kurker (St. John’s Prep) was drafted by the St. Louis Blues with the 56th pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, 2012 MSHCA All-Star Brendan Collier (Malden Catholic HS) was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes with the 189th pick in the2012 NHL Draft, and 2011 MSHCA All-Star Colin Blackwell (St. John’s Prep) was drafted by the San Jose Sharks with the 194th pick overall in the 2011 NHL Draft.
 
Preparations are already underway for the 5th annual High School All-Star Games presented by Shriners to be held at a date to be determined at the DCU Center for 2014. The All-Star Games feature the state’s top 92 high school senior boys and girls from MIAA schools, as selected by the MSHCA and will be played before a Worcester Sharks game.
