SJ Sharks re-sign Demers and Reid
SJ SHARKS RE-SIGN DEFENSEMAN JASON DEMERS
SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@sanjosesharks) Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has re-signed Group II restricted free agent defenseman Jason Demers (@jasondemers5) to a one-year contract.
In 2012-13, Demers played 22 games for San Jose, posting three points (one goal, two assists) and 10 penalty minutes. He played in one game during the postseason.
"Jason is a highly competitive puck moving defenseman that creates offense from the back end," said Wilson. "We're looking forward to seeing him come back healthy and continue his growth with us."
In 2011-2012 Demers registered 13 points (four goals, nine assists) and 22 penalty minutes in 57 games, tying a career high in goals with four. Demers played in three games during the postseason.
The 25 year-old Demers has has appeared in 205 career regular season NHL games with San Jose, registering 61 points (11 goals, 50 assists) and 81 penalty minutes. He was named PlayStation® "Sharks Rookie of the Year" in 2009-10 in a vote conducted by Bay Area media.
The six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Dorval, QC was selected by San Jose in the seventh round (186th overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft.

In 2012-13, Reid played 34 games with the Worcester Sharks in the AHL, registering 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) and 19 penalty minutes.
In 2011-12 as an AHL rookie with Worcester, Reid played in 66 games and logged 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) as well as 17 penalty minutes. He scored his first professional goal vs. St. John's on Nov. 5 and posted his first professional point (assist) at Providence on Oct. 9 in his first professional game.
The 23 year-old Reid has played in 100 career AHL games, recording 46 points (20 goals, 26 assists) and 36 penalty minutes.
The six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Delta, British Columbia was signed by San Jose as a free agent on April 15, 2012.
