The Northeast Division-champion Springfield Falcons (43-21-5-4) enter the final week of the 2012-13 regular season in sole possession of second place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Falcons completed their home slate on Sunday, defeating Connecticut at the MassMutual Center, 4-3, behind a late goal from Boone Jenner. Springfield closes out its regular-season schedule with road games this week against Worcester on Wednesday, Providence on Friday, and Adirondack on Saturday. The club is a point away from clinching its best season percentage-wise in its 19-year history.

Worcester looks to finish the season strong with a young group of prospects looking to make their mark in the final three games. The Sharks have struggled of late, having lost 11 of their 12 games overall and a franchise record eight straight losses at the DCU Center (0-5-3-0).

On the positive side, goaltender Alex Stalock picked up his franchise leading 75th victory (Thomas Greiss has 74) on last week in a 32 save shutout in Bridgeport. Rookie Eriah Hayes (Minnesota-State Mankato) scored his first professional goal on Saturday vs. Norfolk and fired a Sharks season high ten shots on goal. The Sharks dressed a season high 12 rookies on Sunday in Manchester.

Worcester was officially eliminated from a playoff spot in the East after the 4-3 overtime loss to the Admirals on Saturday. The Sharks have three more games remaining on their regular season schedule beginning with their final home game of the season on Wednesday at 7pm vs. the Springfield Falcons. The Sharks travel to Wilkes-Barre Scranton on Friday with a 7:05pm start followed by their final game of the season on Saturday with their only visit to Syracuse with a 7:30pm battle vs. the Crunch to close out the 2012-13 season.
