Sharks announce three transactions
SJ SHARKS REASSIGN RIGHT WING MATT PELECH TO WORCESTER
Yanni Gourde recalled to Worcester, Tommy Grant reassigned to San Francisco
SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has reassigned right wing Matt Pelech to the Worcester Sharks, the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Pelech currently ranks seventh in the American Hockey League in penalty minutes (186) with Worcester. In 43 AHL games this season, he has posted five points (1-4=5) and 45 shots. He began the season as a defenseman and was converted to right wing in January.
The six-foot-four, 235-pound native of Toronto, Ontario was originally selected in the first round (26th overall) by the Calgary Flames in the 2005 NHL Draft. He was signed by San Jose as a free agent on July 6, 2011.
In addition, the San Jose Sharks have reassigned forward Tommy Grant to the San Francisco Bulls (ECHL) from the Worcester Sharks. Grant had three points (1-2-3) in 14 games with Worcester since being acquired in a trade with the New York Rangers on Jan 17.
The Worcester Sharks have announced they have recalled forward Yanni Gourde from the San Francisco Bulls (ECHL). Gourde posted a point in all eight games for the Bulls (4-6-10) and picked up a fighting major.
