Matt Irwin recalled by SJ Sharks

Yanni Gourde loaned to San Francisco Bulls

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Matt Irwin from the Worcester Sharks, the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

In nine games with the Sharks this season, Irwin has posted two points (one goal, one assist). He scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 26 vs. Colorado.

In 35 games with Worcester, Irwin has 15 points (one goal, 14 assists) and 26 penalty minutes.

The six-foot-two, 210-pound native of Victoria, British Columbia was signed by San Jose as a free agent on March 23, 2010.

In addition, forward Yanni Gourde has been loaned to the San Francisco Bulls (ECHL). Gourde had 10 points (7-3-10) and 27 penalty minutes in 44 games for Worcester this season.
