Springfield, MA– The Worcester Sharks (22-19-1-5, 50pts) kicked off a 3-in-3 road weekend with a 3-1 loss to the Springfield Falcons (29-11-4-3, 65pts) on Friday night in front of 2,966 fans at the Mass Mutual Center. Game four of the five game road trip continues on Saturday evening with a 7pm (EST) start in Glens Falls, NY vs. the Phantoms.

Harri Sateri made 27 saves for Worcester in his 3rd straight start in net and Daniil Tarasov (4-0-4) extended his point streak to three games with the only Worcester score. 15 combined power plays slowed down the game as Worcester fell to 2-1-0-0 vs. the Falcons this season. The Sharks are now 2-1-0-0 on their five game road trip.

The Falcons scored the only goal in the opening frame as Worcester was outshot 11-3. Ryan Craig (15th) deflected a Nick Holden shot past Harri Sateri on a 5-on-3 power play at 19:12. Worcester went 0-for-2 on the power play in the opening frame and trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes.

Rookie Daniil Tarasov (7th) scored in his third straight game with a beautiful deflection of a Danny Groulx shot from outside the left circle past goaltender Allen York at 90 seconds of the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Newcomer Adam Comrie picked up the secondary assist for Worcester in the only score in the middle frame. The Falcons held an 18-8 shot advantage after 40 minutes of play.

Nick Holden (5th) fired a Sean Collins centering pass past Sateri at 6:30 to put the Falcons ahead for good early in the third period. Worcester had a 5-on-3 power play for a full 1:55 late in the period but could not muster a goal to tie the game. Andrew Joudrey (3rd) capped the scoring with an empty netter with 12 seconds remaining as Worcester fell 3-1.

The Sharks overall record falls to 22-19-1-5 (50pts in 47gp) and 14-10-0-2 (28pts in 26gp) on the road this season.

Adam Comrie made his Sharks debut and recorded an assist…Matt Irwin played his first game back with Worcester after playing nine games with the San Jose Sharks….the Sharks streak of 14 straight games with at least a point at the Mass Mutual Center came to an end with the loss (11-1-3).
