Before the Worcester Sharks and Hershey Bears drop the puck at the DCU Center this Wednesday, the first annual Frozen Feud will be going on, starting at 4 pm. The game will feature the two top teams from the Division 3A Roy Conference, the Worcester Wildcats (8-1-1, 17 points) and the Northbridge Rams (8-2-0, 16 points). This will be the last time these two teams meet this year as they have played twice already, each recording a victory.

For Worcester, their victory came on December 22nd, where they used a four point (1 goal, 3 assists) performance from senior forward Michael Tisdell to defeat Northbridge 6-1.

When the two teams met again in the Finals of the Grafton Holiday Tournament on December 27th, the Rams came out on top winning 5-3. Northbridge benefited from junior forward Michael Ferraro’s hat trick and senior goaltender Liam Drennan’s 23 save performance to give the Wildcats their first and only loss of the season.

Worcester’s potent offense is led by sophomore Seamus O’Connor’s 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists) which has helped the Wildcats’ offense score over five goals a game. On the blue line the Wildcats are led by senior Nick Herlihy whose 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) leads all Worcester defenseman. Between the pipes for Worcester is senior Tyler Miller who has been dominant, posting a (8-1-1) record to accompany a 1.05 goals against average and a .952 save percentage. Miller’s solid play has helped the Wildcats lead all of Division 3A with only allowing one goal a game.

The Northbridge Rams roster features one of the most dynamic scorers in all of Central Massachusetts, senior captain Tyler Peabody. The senior forward has been nothing but stellar this year tallying 29 points (20 goals, 9 assists) in just 10 games. The Rams have seen two successful goalies take up the crease this year as senior goalie Liam Drennan and junior goalie Kirby Gomez have split time. Drennan is (6-1-0) so far this season, sporting a 2.58 goals against average and a .844 save percentage. The junior, Kirby Gomez is (2-1-0) with a 2.42 goals against average and a .887 save percentage.

Doors open at 3:45 pm, as this game will be one of the best Central Massachusetts 3A games of the month as these two teams are separated by just one point. One ticket gets you admission to both the high school game and the Sharks game, so come check it out!! 508-929-0500!
