The Sharks are preparing for a three game weekend by introducing new additions to the squad. Forward Pat Rissmiller and defenseman Michael Wilson are eligible to make their debut this weekend. Rissmiller, an AHL veteran who has played for six AHL teams and four NHL teams including the San Jose Sharks is not only bringing his talents to Worcester, but his experience as well. Rissmiller has tallied 352 points in his AHL career and has also laced up in 192 games in the NHL. The Belmont, MA native and Holy Cross Alum will be wearing the #28 jersey for the Sharks. Michael Wilson, a 25-year-old from N. Vancouver, BC may be a familiar face for Shark fans as he returns to the team once again after playing two seasons with the Sharks from 2008-2010. Wilson will be wearing the #36 jersey for the Sharks as the two new signings will showcase their talent this weekend in games against the Springfield Falcons, Albany Devils, and the Portland Pirates.

The Sharks (18-13-1-2, 39pts.) will face off against the Springfield Falcons (19-9-2-3, 43pts.) for the first of eight meetings between their Massachusetts rivals on Friday, January 11th at 7:30pm on $2-$2-$-2 Fridays at the DCU Center. The Falcons will travel to Worcester as the leaders of the Northeast Conference and after a dominating 4-1 victory over the Providence Bruins. The Falcons will look to left wing Jonathan Audy-Marchessault who led the Falcons with two goals and an assist in the win over Providence to continue his explosive play. Worcester, who is returning home after a four game road trip (2-2-0-0) plan to set the tone with the Falcons in what will undoubtedly be a fast paced, physical and exciting hockey game.

Following the Springfield game, Worcester will travel to Albany on Saturday to face off against the Devils (13-11-1-6, 33pts.) for a 5pm puck drop. This will be the second and final time the two teams meet this season. In their last meeting, the Sharks fell to the Devils 4-0 at the DCU Center on October 20. Local talent, Bobby Butler of Marlborough, MA will be suiting up for the Devils with 15 goals and 7 assists on the season thus far. Albany is currently third in the Northeast Conference as they look to gain some momentum for the second half of the season. This out of division game is sure to be filled with enthusiasm and excitement from both teams.

The Sharks will finish the weekend at the DCU center against the Atlantic division leaders, The Portland Pirates (21-12-1-1, 44pts.) at 3pm. The Sharks will be playing with a chip on their shoulder as they try to bounce back from a tough 7-3 loss at the hands of the Pirates five days prior to this weekend’s tilt. The Sharks have faced Portland seven times already this season (3-4-0-0) making this weekend’s game the eighth of twelve games the two will play. This match up will be key for the Sharks as they attempt to close the gap between themselves and the Pirates in the Atlantic division standings. The Sharks will look to close out the weekend strong with a victory over their conference rivals!

Don’t forget…. The 5th annual High School Hockey Clash between the Hudson Hawks and the Marlboro Panthers will take place on Sunday, January 13 at 12pm before the Sharks host the Portland Pirates at 3pm. Doors open at 11:30am with one ticket to get you entry into both games! As always, kid’s tickets are just $5 with the purchase of an adult ticket.
