Sharks head to Manchester on Saturday

Sharks Hit the Road to Mess with Manchester

The Worcester Sharks (20-13-3-5) hope to bounce back after two consecutive losses as they hit the road to take on the Manchester Monarchs (24-19-0-2) on Saturday at 7pm at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
 
Saturday’s game will be the 8th meeting between the two teams this season. The Sharks hold a 2-3-1-1 record against the Monarchs, defeating Manchester 3-1 in their last matchup December 28th in Worcester.
 
2nd place in the Atlantic Division will be on the line as the two teams battle it out in the final game before the AHL All-Star break. Manchester has won three straight games and currently holds a two point edge over the Sharks, but Worcester has four games in hand.
 
Blowing the Whistle…
Last matchup on 12/28 Jimmy Bonneau earned his 10th fighting major heightening the Worcester Manchester rivalry. The Sharks and Monarchs have already slugged it out through seven of 12 games this season. The two teams have combined for 317 penalty minutes in the seven games (147 WOR, 170 MCH) and 14 sets of fighting major penalties.
 
Worcester Players to Watch…
Tim Kennedy- Saturday is expected to be Kennedy’s debut game with the Sharks, after being traded from the Florida Panthers for defensemen Sean Sullivan. Kennedy has two points (1-1=2) in 27 NHL games and nine points (3-6=9) in 18 AHL games with San Antonio.
 
Jimmy Bonneau- Bonneau has amassed 103 PIM this season, and has had four Fighting Majors out of the seven games with Manchester.
 
Matt Irwin- Irwin has two goals and one assist against Manchester this season. Irwin has a consistent eight points in eight games in January.
 
Nathan Moon- Moon has two goals and 10 PIM against Manchester this year.
 
Manchester Players to Watch…
Dwight King- King has racked up three goals and two assists against Worcester this season.
 
Jordan Nolan- Nolan scored twice on 11/18 against Worcester with one assist. Nolan has a total of 30 PIM this season.
