Exciting weekend planned at the DCU Center this weekend!
Worcester Caps off Home Stand against Streaking Teams
Coming off an exciting come from behind victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack Wednesday night, the first place Sharks conclude their short three-game home stand this weekend as they play host to the Binghamton Senators and the Hershey Bears.
SUNDAY
After an off-day Saturday, the Sharks host a matinee affair against the top team in the AHL on Sunday at 4:05 PM. Hershey, the defending Calder Cup champions, has been dominating their competition the entire season. Their record (49-12-0-2) is good for the most wins (49), most points (100), and best winning percentage (.794) in the AHL. With 17 games left on their schedule, they have already secured a playoff spot come April and have a virtual lock on the number one spot in the East Division as they lead second-place Albany by 24 points. They are first in the AHL in goals scored (271) and are second in goals against (149). If Worcester is to stop the Hershey attack, they’re going to need to focus on two players, Keith Aucoin and Alexandre Giroux. They are currently first and second in the AHL in scoring. Aucoin (31-53-84) leads the league with Giroux (33-48-81) not far behind. The next highest scorer is Corey Locke of Hartford, but is a good 10 points back of the dynamic Hershey duo. The Bears feature another scorer in the top-10 with Andrew Gordon (30-31-61) occupying the tenth spot. It will prove to be a good barometer for the young Sharks team as they make their own push to the playoffs.
Sunday afternoon, the puck drops at 4:05 PM and it is Faith and Family Night in Sharks Territory! Fans are encouraged to bring in new or slightly used clothing to benefit the Salvation Army! All fans that donate will receive a FREE ticket to the Sharks vs. Crunch game on March 23rd.
There will be special pregame and in-game performances by the Worcester band Shades of Skin!
