T.J. Comes Back in Style
Trevelyan Returns to Worcester Lineup on Fire!
By, Ryan Holt

Worcester forward T.J. Trevelyan has been a force to be reckoned with this season for the Sharks. Despite a stretch of 17 games that Trevelyan missed due to a broken jaw, the Mississauga, ON native has fired his way to 11 goals over the course of the last 16 games since his return. Trevelyan’s goal outburst has him tied for second on the club with a total of 19 goals on the season.

Now in his fourth season in the AHL, Trevelyan came to the Sharks over the summer having spent two seasons with the rival Providence Bruins and one year with the now defunct Iowa Chops. He has added tremendous experience to a Sharks lineup that, at the beginning of the season, was the fourth-youngest in the AHL. That experience should prove helpful down the stretch as in 23 career playoff games, Trevelyan has compiled eight goals, nine assists, and 17 points.

Very quickly, Trevelyan has become a crowd favorite here in Worcester. Not only are his goals helping the Sharks to their best season in franchise history, Trevelyan has donated over $950 dollars to the Y.O.U., Inc. foundation for his efforts. Every time the former St. Lawrence University great scores a goal, he donates $50 to Y.O.U., Inc. as part of the T.J.’s Goals for Charity initiative. The organization is designed to provide youth and families with opportunities to fulfill their potential and build a brighter future.

“It’s a great thing to do and something I enjoy,” said Trevelyan. “Helping the team and helping out charities, it’s the right thing to do.”

Recently, Trevelyan was reunited with captain Ryan Vesce who also spent a considerable amount of time away from the ice with an injury. The line clicked right away as Vesce and Trevelyan each went on a torrid scoring streak. Prior to Vesce’s recall to San Jose over the weekend, the tandem played five games together last week. In those five games, the duo combined for nine goals, four assists, and 13 points.

“Getting Vesce back was huge help, because he is a gifted player at both ends especially setting up players,” Trevelyan remarked. “He makes everyone around him a better player and we clicked together.”

Worcester also gained a boost on its power play since the return of Trevelyan. He has been a fixture on the power-play unit recently, chipping in seven goals with the man advantage. His ability to handle the puck effectively and find passing lanes has been a great addition to the Sharks special teams.

Trevelyan is no stranger to success when it comes to putting up big numbers. While with St. Lawrence, Trevelyan became the school’s third all-time leading scorer with 78 goals over his four seasons in the North Country. “Tweets,” as he is affectionately known in the Worcester locker room, was the 2006 ECAC Player of the Year in addition to being named a 2006 First Team All-American.

If you cannot be at the DCU Center in person, be sure to check out T.J. Friday night as he joins Andy Lacombe on Charter TV3 during an intermission of the game against Binghamton at 7 PM.
