SAN JOSE SHARKS GOALTENDER THOMAS GREISS SELECTED TO REPRESENT TEAM GERMANY AT 2010 WINTER OLYMPICS
SAN JOSE – The German Ice Hockey Federation announced today that San Jose Sharks goaltender Thomas Greiss has been selected to Germany’s men’s ice hockey team for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The Olympics will be held from Feb. 12-28 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The six-foot-one, 210-pound native of Koln, Germany has a 3-3-0 record this season, along with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.
Greiss was named to the 2006 German Olympic team in Torino, Italy where he appeared in one game against Canada. He also played in two games for Germany in the 2006 World Championships B-pool and went 1-0-0 with a 1.97 GAA.
Greiss also competed for Germany in the 2005 World Championships and 2003 World Junior U-18 Championships.
Greiss was originally drafted by San Jose in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (3rd round, 94th overall).
