Worcester Fire and Police Skate to 5-5 tie with Providence Fire
Joe Scampini (Worcester) and Marc Perreault (Providence) score two goals each in Guns N’ Hoses Game
 
Worcester, MA- Joe Scampini scored his second goal of the game with one second remaining in the second half for the Worcester Police and Fire team to tie the score at 5-5 against the Providence Fire team on Sunday afternoon before the Worcester Sharks game at the DCU Center in Worcester.
 
The first half was full of action up and down the ice and the Worcester Police and Fire team struck first when Tom Fitman banged home a rebound at 11:35. Later, Brian Moreau scored for the Providence Fire squad at 24:35 to tie the game. The Worcester team again took the lead at 26:52 when Andy White broke in down the left wing and scored top shelf over Providence goaltender Anthony Lancellotti. With minutes remaining in the first period Providence got the equalizer off the stick of Marc Perreault at 27:35. The first half ended with the score tied 2-2.
 
In the second half, Joe Scampini gave Worcester a 3-2 lead at 2:35 streaking in on a breakaway off a nice feed from Jay Magarian. The lead was short lived as Providence’s Marc Perreault scored his second goal of the game at 4:00 to tie the score at 3-3. The back and forth scoring continued as Worcester scored at 5:20 when Pat Moran rifled in a snap shot from the top of the circle to put Worcester ahead 4-3. Providence tied the game again when John Mangione scored on a shot from the point at 16:30. Providence took their first lead of the game when Bob Cornell chipped a rebound over Worcester goalie John Nicholson at 26:44. With one second remaining, Worcester’s Joe Scampini scored his second goal of the game to tie the score. The game ended in a 5-5 tie.
