Worcester Sharks forwards Logan Couture and Jamie McGinn were called up to play with the NHL affiliate San Jose Sharks on Sunday in Philadelphia. San Jose beat the Flyers 4-1.
Sunday marked Logan Couture’s debut in the NHL in front of over 19,000 fans. He played 7:01 minutes and recorded a penalty for tripping in the second period. His move to San Jose came after a stellar weekend where he scored his third game winning goal of the season, this time against the Springfield Falcons. Saturday’s game marked the extension of Couture’s five-game point streak.
Jamie McGinn, who was reassigned to Worcester by San Jose on October 2nd, also performed well against the Flyers, where he recorded 10:49 of NHL ice time. McGinn’s shot in overtime that won it for the Worcester Sharks in Providence on Friday night marked his second game-winning goal of the season.
Former Worcester Sharks’ netminder Thomas Greiss made 37 saves, improving his record to 1-1. Greiss has a .957 save percentage so far this season. Greiss went 6-6 last season with Worcester, where he made 342 saves.
