Jason Demers, Ryan Vesce, and Brad Satubitz Make Splash in San Jose

Jason Demers, Ryan Vesce, and Brad Staubitz highlight the class of Worcester Sharks who have made the jump to San Jose this season.

Jason Demers was one of the top defenseman in Worcester last season. In his 2008-09 AHL campaign he led the team in plus/minus (+15), and was second among defenseman in scoring (2-31-33). After an impressive training camp, Demers began the season in San Jose and has not looked back. He made his NHL debut on October 1st against the Colorado Avalanche and recorded his first point on October 3rd against the Anaheim Ducks. His skills have been proven at the NHL level as he has played in every San Jose game thus far posting seven assists, which is tied for the team lead among defensemen. Also, good things continue to happen while Demers is on the ice; he is tied for the team lead in plus/minus at +5.

Ryan Vesce, Worcester Sharks captain, has also made a big impact in San Jose playing with Joe Thornton and Danny Healtley. Vesce is a dynamic forward with a knack for scoring goals. After going scoreless in his first ten career NHL games with San Jose last season, Vesce has his first two NHL goals in two games this year. Vesce scored his first NHL goal on October 17th against the New York Islanders; it would turn out to be the game winner. In his second game with San Jose in 2009, he scored again against the New York Rangers in a 7-3 win at Madison Square Garden.

Brad Staubitz lit the lamp on Monday night to get the Sharks offense rolling in New York. It was the 2nd ever goal scored in the NHL for Staubitz.

Demers, Vesce, and Staubitz look to continue their success at the NHL level as the San Jose Sharks continue their east coast road trip this week  Go Sharks!
