Player Spotlight: Brad Staubitz!

This week highlights tough guy forward and fan favorite Brad Staubitz, who had his best professional season splitting the year between San Jose in the NHL and the Worcester Sharks in the AHL.

Season Highlight: scored his first NHL goal in Edmonton on January 9th ripping a 55 foot slat shot down the right wing past Dwayne Roloson. Bloodied Nashville’s Jordan Tootoo in a second period fight and received a standing ovation from the San Jose Sharks home crowd.
Did you know?: Brad began his career as a defenseman before moving to forward 50 games into the 2007-08 season. Brad skated with Lukas Kaspar, Derek Joslin, and Jamie McGinn with the Ottawa 67’s in the OHL.
Interesting Tidbits: recorded 19 fighting majors to lead the Worcester Sharks in 2007-08.
2008-09 in a Nutshell: Staubitz provided toughness at the AHL (10 fighting majors) and the NHL level (eight fighting majors) this season.

Missed the first two playoff games due to league suspension. Final regular season stats 38gp, 5 points (5assists) with 130 penalty minutes with 10 fighting majors…Fired 40 shots and was -11. 2004-05: Split the season between Sault-Ste. Marie and Ottawa (OHL), combining for career highs in points (26 — T-28th amongst all OHL defensemen), goals, assists, PIM (181 — T-9th in OHL) and games…Playoffs: Led all defensemen in points, assists and PIM…Overall, was T-3rd in assists, T-2nd in power play assists (nine) and T-10th in points.
2003-04: Among team leaders: T-6th in assists, eighth in points, second in PIM and fourth in plus/minus (plus-5).
