Worcester- Throughout the ‘08-09 season a number of Worcester Sharks have found themselves swimming in unfamiliar waters out West. The San Jose Sharks currently reign atop the NHL with 91 points and have utilized talent from their Worcester affiliate.
 
One player who has made quite and impact in San Jose is Brad Staubitz who picked up a fighting major in his first NHL shift (vs. McIver) on October 17th vs. Anaheim. His second would soon follow as he fought Garth Murray on November 10th at Phoenix.  Through 17 games with San Jose Staubitz has accumulated 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and 46 pims. His first career goal came on January 9th  vs. Edmonton.
 
Lukas Kaspar started the 2008-09 season in San Jose and has made multiple trips back out West. With 12 games in San Jose Kaspar has recorded 4 points (2goals, 2 assists). His first career goal, a game-winner in a 1-0 match, came on October 12th at Los Angeles. He registered an assist on February 17th vs. Edmonton and currently has 37 points (13 goals, 24 assists) with Worcester.
 
Tom Cavanaugh made his San Jose debut on December 4th vs. Columbus and has played in 12 games since. He recorded an assist vs. Edmonton on December 6th and currently has 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) with Worcester.  
 
Recalled to San Jose on October 27th,  Jamie McGinn scored a game-winning goal on November 4th vs. Minnesota. He then scored two points (1goal, 1 assist) against the Detroit Red Wings in his second NHL game. He has played in 18 games and has posted 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) for San Jose. McGinn currently has 30 points (19 goals, 11 assists) for Worcester this season. Fellow fan favorite Riley Armstrong was recalled on November 29th and made is NHL debut at Phoenix. He played in two games while with San Jose and currently has 29 points (19 goals, 10 assists) with Worcester.
 
In between playing for team Canada at the All-Star Classic, Derek Joslin has played in 11 games with San Jose as he made his NHL debut on January 3rd vs. the Islanders. He currently has 21 points (7 goals, 14 assists) with Worcester. Fellow all-star Ryan Vesce made his NHL debut on February 11th vs. Pittsburgh and has played in two games with San Jose this season. He currently has 59 points (18 goals, 41 assists) with Worcester and is tied 7th overall among AHL scorers.
 
NHL veteran Claude Lemieux signed an AHL contract with Worcester on November 25th that was followed a month later by the signing of an NHL contract on December 27th. He appeared in 23 games for Worcester, registering 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) and 24 penalty minutes before heading out West on January 19th. Lemieux registered 3 shots and 3 hits in 7:08 of ice time, playing in his first NHL game in 2,116 days. He recorded first penalty minutes as a Shark with a five-minute fighting major and a 10-minute misconduct on Feb. 17 vs. Edmonton. Lemieux’s first point since the 2003 season was an assist vs. Los Angeles on February 20th. Lemieux has played in 15 games for San Jose this season.
