Worcester Sharks “BE A LEADER” visits the Elm Street Church in Fitchburg
Riley Armstrong and Abigail Williams & Associates will visit the after school neighborhood program on Wednesday
WORCESTER—Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr has announced that the “Be a Leader” program will visit the Elm Street Church in Fitchburg, MA on Wednesday, February 18, from 4:30 - 5:30p.m at their after school neighborhood program.
Created at the start of the 2007-08 season by the Worcester Sharks and the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates, the “Be a Leader” program is designed to provide students in grades 4-6 with leadership tips to enrich their lives as well as others around them. Sharks players, in addition to Finz, the Sharks’ mascot, will be present at the school assemblies along with the principle of the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates, Abby Williams.
Armstrong, a third-year Shark and fan favorite, will take the lead at the assembly, addressing the students and sharing their insights on being a professional hockey player and the negative effects of bullying.
“The Sharks players really enjoying working with the students,” said Director of Community Relations Michael Myers. “It’s not every day that a professional athlete and a mascot visit a child’s school. It’s a fun way to help guide students to make the right decision in every day life.”
This exceptional “Be a Leader” program gathers students in a large assembly format where Armstrong, Sharks staff, and community leaders will speak to students about leadership qualities and ways to better one’s life.
Each participant in the program receives one ticket to an upcoming 2008-09 regular season Sharks home game and a “Be a Leader” booklet compliments of the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates.
“My entire staff has really enjoyed being part of this great program,” said Abby Williams, principal of the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates. “I am excited about the opportunity to share my experiences with children and look forward for the “Be a Leader” program to continue its efforts throughout central Massachusetts.”
