Sharks team up with “Leaders of Tomorrow” to raise funds

WORCESTER—In their continuing efforts to make an impact in the lives of youngsters, the Worcester Sharks have teamed up with the Leaders of Tomorrow group at Oak Middle School in Shrewsbury in an effort to raise funds for the group’s endeavors.

On Saturday, October 18th, the Leaders of Tomorrow sold Sharks tickets and “chuck-a-pucks,” with proceeds going toward the group’s latest two efforts—promoting solar energy awareness at Oak Middle School and raising money to buy space heaters for those in the community that are in need during the colder months.

“[This event] was exactly what we needed,” attested Sam Levine, president of the student organization.

“We’re going to set up a public display board when you walk into the school,” described Levine about the project.  The board will be powered completely by solar energy, and will hopefully spark some student interest in the energy conservation movement.

The Oak Middle School Leaders of Tomorrow are a student community service organization comprised of approximately 30 to 40 students who take on various service projects throughout the school year.  The group’s most notable project is its annual September 11th memorial at the Shrewsbury town common, which is just one of the monthly projects adopted by the group.
