Blogging with the Rookies.... Mike Moore

Hey Sharks fans, Mike Moore here with you. Things are great right now in the Sharks dressing room. We just won two homes games at the DCU Center to move to 2-2. The crowd was awesome for the home opener. Both games went to overtime and one of them to a shootout, so the games could not be more exciting.

I am really pumped that the hockey season has started. That’s not to say that I did not have a great summer. I worked out with Doug Crashley back in my home town of Calgary. There is a great group of junior, college and pro guys and we end up pushing each other pretty hard. That’s way you can’t wait for the season, you work hard in the summer but not playing any real games kills ya.

I actually got to play hockey with my brothers a lot this summer. My one brother runs a summer league team that is comprised of all of our buddies. We don’t take it too seriously and its not too competitive, just a chance to get together twice a week. We are talking about playing softball next year instead of hockey.

My neighbor and Worcester fan favorite Brad Stabitz is currently playing up with the big club in San Jose. We are all excited for him. He was kind enough to leave me his baby, it’s a 2006 Dodge Ram quad cab. It’s been running great, running so good actually that it might have ran itself right into a light pole. Haha-just kidding Brad, your truck is fine... kinda.

Brett Westgarth came over for TACO’s the other day, he now owes me a dinner. I might try to make him take me to Outback Steakhouse, he won’t stop talking about a girl he meet there. Don’t worry Mrs. Westgarth, I will make sure she is nice.

On Tuesday Finz and I were able to attend Mrs. McCarthy’s class for the first “Reading is Cool!” program. Its part of the “Be a Leader” program through the sharks. Hey kids, if you would want Finz and a Worcester Shark to come to your class to read with you, have your parents or your teacher call the sharks office.

Halloween is just around the corner. I bought some candy to give out to any trick-or-treaters who come knocking at my door, but I still have not thought of a costume. Some of the guys on the team are brainstorming ideas. The news team from the movie Anchorman sounds like it might be a choice for a group of four. Whatever the guys come up with I am sure there will be some funny outfits.

We practiced at Holy Cross University today because the DCU Center was getting ready for the Alan Jackson concert tonight. There are some huge country music fans on our team, including myself, so its time to break out the cowboy boots.

See you at the rink, Mike
