SAN JOSE SHARKS ROOKIES TO BATTLE ANAHEIM DUCKS ROOKIES
ON SEPTEMBER 16 IN LAS VEGAS
Sharks Top Prospects To Faceoff Against Peers From Anaheim At The Orleans In Las Vegas
San Jose – Many of the top prospects from the San Jose Sharks organization will participate in a Rookie Game against the prospects from the Anaheim Ducks organization on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7:00 p.m. at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The team will travel to Las Vegas and prepare for the game with practices on Sept. 14 and 15.
“These games provide a great opportunity for our prospects and recent draft picks to play in a game environment against members of their own peer group,” said Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson. “It gives our scouting staff an opportunity to evaluate our players and see their progression first-hand.”
“Future Sharks” scheduled to participate in this year’s tournament include first round draft selections Mike Morris (2002) and Logan Couture (2007), as well as Jamie McGinn (second round, 2006) and fellow 2007 third round goaltender selections Timo Pielmeier and Tyson Sexsmith.
Tickets for the Anaheim-San Jose Rookie Game are currently on sale ($35, $22.50 and $15) and available at www.orleansarena.com, all Coast Casinos box offices, The Galleria at Sunset, or by calling (888) 234-2334. The Orleans Arena is located at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas, NV, 89103.
Following the tournament, the Sharks veterans are scheduled to hit the ice on September 20, as their 2008 Training Camp begins at Sharks Ice at San Jose. The Sharks first preseason game will be Sept. 24 vs. the Ducks at Honda Center.
