What a BUSY week in mid-July!
The Sharks have announced the signings of defensemen Brendan Buckley, Matt Kinch, and Brett Westgarth. Veteran center Cory Larose was also locked in for next season!
Mark Tuesday, February 10th on your calendars because the NHL released their 2008-09 schedule and the San Jose Sharks will travel to Boston on that date to face the Bruins!
The San Jose Sharks are 5-13-5 vs. the Boston Bruins all time including a 2-1 loss last October in San Jose. The last time the Sharks were in Boston, they defeated the Bruins by a 6-2 score on January 10th 2006 at the TD BankNorth Garden.

Here is a quick snapshot of the newest members in the Sharks organization:
Corey Larose:
Larose, who spent the 2007-08 campaign in Sweden, posted 83 points (22-61-83) in 63 games with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves during the 2006-07 season. He ranked second on the team with 137 penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Larose (right) has racked up 334 points (120-214-334) in 372 regular-season AHL games with Houston, Hartford, and Chicago.
Brendan Buckley:
Buckley, who played in Germany last season, posted nine points (2-7-9) and 107 penalty minutes in 63 games as captain of the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs during the 2006-07 season.
The 31-year-old has appeared in 501 career AHL games with Cincinnati, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Syracuse, the Worcester IceCats, Peoria, and Manchester, totaling 83 points (13-70-83) and 84 penalty minutes.
A Needham, Mass., native, Buckley reached the Calder Cup Finals in 2001 with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and has totaled five assists in 54 career Calder Cup Playoff games. He played against the Worcester Sharks in the first round of the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs as a member of Manchester. Buckley was originally drafted by Anaheim in 1996.
Matt Kinch:
Kinch, 28, spent the 2007-08 season with Binghamton of the American Hockey League. In 73 games played, he tied for second among team defensemen with 25 points (9-16=25) and accumulated 73 penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound defenseman has spent parts of four seasons in the AHL. He has appeared in 246 AHL regular season games with Hartford and Binghamton posting 82 points (18-64=82) and 143 penalty minutes.
Kinch played in Europe for three seasons from 2004-07, including time in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Prior to his professional career, he spent five seasons with Calgary (WHL) appearing in 320 regular season games and registering 240 points (63-177=240).
Brett Westgarth:
Westgarth, 26, is the younger brother of Manchester Monarchs tough guy Kevin and split the 2007-08 season between Iowa of the American Hockey League and Flint of the International Hockey League. In 37 games with Iowa, he posted five points (2-3=5) and 89 penalty minutes. In 27 games with Flint, Westgarth posted 12 points (2-10=12) and 39 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of Amherstburg, Ontario played college hockey at Princeton. In his four years there, he registered 24 points (4-20=24) in 114 games. Undrafted, he signed as a free agent with Syracuse (AHL) following the conclusion of his senior season in 2006-07 and played in five games registering one assist (0-1=1) and six penalty minutes.
