Season Highlight: Finished with a Gordie Howe Hat Trick (goal, assist, fight) on Mar. 14 at Lowell, recording a goal, two assists, and an impressive third-period fight. In the fight, he knocked out Devils’ tough guy Pierre-Luc Leblond in the Sharks’ 6-1 rout at the Tsongas Arena.
Did you know?: Staubitz’s 20 points were by far and away a career-high; his previous high was six in 2005-06 with Cleveland. The goals came at a fast pace towards the end of the season when he picked up four in the team’s final 17 games. That was after only two in the team’s first 63 contests.
2007-08 in a Nutshell: Staubitz defined a team player when he moved to forward due to a plethora of defensemen on the roster. He thrived, recording 14 more points than his previous career-high while continuing to be a team leader by not backing down from any fights.
